COUNSELLING - MENTAL HEALTH

THE MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELLING PROGRAM

Through our funded Integrated Primary Mental Health Care program, we offer counselling services for people who are experiencing mental health challenges, at no cost to the client. Our clinicians will work alongside you with the aim to help you optimise your mental health and wellbeing.

Eligibility Criteria - people who are:

  • struggling with mental health issues

  • experiencing financial hardship

  • living in the Great Southern or Wheatbelt regions of Western Australia

  • not accessing other mental health services

  • aged 7 years and above

Once your referral has been submitted, we will contact you within 7 business days to discuss how we can help you with your wellbeing plan.

  • This self-referral option is available to people 18+ years and offers 3 sessions that will help you to focus on the here and now, providing you with support, education and skill development to help improve your mental wellbeing.

    Whether you, your GP or another health professional are referring, to access this program please complete the fillable referral form below and email to query@amityhealth.com.au

  • Sometimes you may need a little more help especially if you’ve previously experienced mental health challenges, or you are currently struggling with your mental health.

    Mental Health Therapy is for seven years of age and above, and includes 6 - 10 sessions.

    A referral from a GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician is required.

  • This service is designed to support GPs in the management of individuals aged 18 + years, with severe and complex mental health conditions. CCC is for those who are stable, and not in a crisis situation.

    We can provide integrated services that cover a range of needs such as monitoring of mental and physical health, liaison with other health providers as part of a shared-care arrangement, linking to other services as required, providing health literacy and education,  managing clinical deterioration and facilitating specialist consultation and/or care.

MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELLING IN RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE HOMES (CONNECTIONS COUNT PROGRAM)

As we age, we are often faced with challenges and change that can have an impact on our mental health. Through a funded program called ‘Connections Count’, we provide mental health counselling, at no cost to the client, for those living with mild to moderate mental health issues at various Residential Aged Care Homes (RACH) throughout the Great Southern, Midwest, South West and Wheatbelt regions.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Firstly, it's a good idea to speak with your, or your family member's, GP and/or RACH staff member

  • you or your family member must be a resident of an RACH in the Great Southern, Midwest, South West or Wheatbelt

  • you or your family member must be at risk of mild to moderate mental illness

  • a diagnosed mental illness, with mild to moderate symptoms of a common mental illness is required (excluding: dementia, delirium and severe, persistent and complex mental illness).

WHICH RESIDENTIAL AGED CARE HOME SITES IS THIS PROGRAM AVAILABLE TO?

ART THERAPY, MENTAL HEALTH & CHRONIC PAIN COUNSELLING (Fee for Service)

Based in Albany, Danita (Art Therapist and Mental Health Occupational Therapist) provides Art Therapy, mental health counselling, and chronic pain counselling to help with trauma, anxiety, depression, behaviour, stressful life events and any situation that may impact your mental and emotional well-being.

We accept self-referrals and there are costs associated with Danita’s counselling services. See your family GP to discuss if a Mental Health Plan may be appropriate for rebates via Medicare.

As an approved NDIS provider, these services can be accessed using NDIS funding where appropriate.

PSYCHOLOGY (Fee for Service)

As part of our Community Allied Health Service team, Amity Health offers Psychology and counselling services with Registered Psychologist, Brigid Morrigan. Brigid delivers psychological and counselling support for clients aged between 10 and 67 years of age, with mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, grief, stress and trauma related difficulties, and other emotional and self-regulation concerns.

We accept self-referrals and there are costs associated with Brigids services. See your family GP to discuss if a Mental Health Plan may be appropriate for rebates via Medicare.
